Our Space

"As teachers we must be capable of forming the instruction so that the child does not simply receive something intellectual in the instruction, but enjoys the instruction in an aesthetic way." - Rudolf Steiner, The Spirit of the Waldorf School: Lectures Surrounding the Founding of the First Waldorf School, 1919

Rosebuds Preschool is a licensed, home-based, Waldorf inspired farm school nestled in the coastal forests of Monterey. We offer children handmade toys and high quality natural art materials. Our sun bathed classroom opens out on a quarter acre orchard with vegetable and flower gardens, blackberry vines, and friendly farm animals.

Our Teachers

Ms. Cori Vevoda Gentry (she/her) is owner and teacher at Rosebuds Preschool. She was born in Monterey and grew up in the Salinas/Corral de Tierra area where her early passions—caring for animals, tending plants, and playing outdoors—took root and never left her.

In high school, she raised bunnies, ducks, and lambs through the Salinas High FFA, and still enjoys judging showmanship at local fairs. Ms. Cori studied Early Childhood Education at Hartnell College, and when she discovered Waldorf philosophy, she knew she had found her calling. After completing her studies at CSUMB and working as a pediatric nutrition specialist for a time, Ms. Cori opened Salinas Valley Sprouts in 2009, a Waldorf-inspired preschool and daycare. In 2024, Cori and her family moved to Monterey and she had the privilege of continuing the beloved Rosebuds Preschool tradition in our community when the founder of Rosebuds retired.

Ms. Cori and her partner, Eric (he/him), were chosen by six beautiful souls to be their parents. Watching the Waldorf principles she learned years ago blossom in her own children has been nothing short of magical. The Gentry family shares their home with two affectionate Ragdoll kitties and a retired Keeshond show dog named Cress.

Outside the preschool, Ms. Cori teaches childbirth and infant care classes in Carmel. She has served as President of the Birth Network of Monterey County, on the ImprovingBirth Board of Directors, and as Co-Leader of ICAN of Monterey County.

It may be an old cliché, but Ms. Cori believes if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. In Waldorf education, play is our work and each day is a gift we cherish.
